Following the launch of Maruti's Vitara Brezza, Ford India has slashed the price of Ecosport by about ₹56,000 to ₹1.12 lakh. This is the first time the prices of the Ecosport has been revised to this extent. Now it makes a better proposition against Vitara Brezza. Even after the revision it still costs about ₹30,000 more than Brezza.
As compared to Brezza which has only one engine option (1.3 ltr 89 bhp Diesel), Ford Ecosport comes with three engine options, 1.5 ltr 110 bhp Petrol, 1 ltr ecoboost 124 bhp Petrol and 1.5 ltr 99 bhp Diesel. The prices range from 6.68 lakh to 9.75 lakh.
Anurag Mehrotra (Ford India's Marketing Executive Director) said: "Ford EcoSport has always been recognised for its strong value proposition and this realignment further strengthens that proposition." He also said: "With enhanced value for money proposition, we are extending its appeal across segments, including Rs 6.8 lakh price band which has been growing at 40 per cent since 2013."
The Ecosport sales are constant at about 3000 to 4000 units a month and with this aggressive pricing, Ford is looking to hold its ground against the new competition from Brezza and Mahindra's TUV 300.
