| Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift |
Maruti Suzuki is planning a facelift for its mid-size sedan Ciaz. The car was first launched in 2014 and was never been updated since. It has been Maruti’s one of the successful models clocking highest sales in C-segment sedans.However, its progress has been sluggish of late due to the entry of the updated competition and higher taxes imposed on its diesel version equipped with the mild hybrid system. Also Honda and Hyundai have updated their offering with better designs and features.
The updates for the Ciaz will be along the lines of what we saw on the Chinese spec Alivio sedan. The changes include a new face, bumpers as well as design for the alloy wheels. The cabin is expected to remain more or less the same but with a major update for the infotainment system. Other changes that can be expected are new alloy wheels and an updated taillamp section, which would make it look even more premium as it is now sold through the premium Nexa range of dealerships.
The main update is, Maruti might replace the 1.3-litre diesel SHVS with a 1.5-litre motor without any hybrid system to prevent it from falling in the higher tax bracket. Eventually this may replace the engines in Ertiga and S-Cross. The petrol option is expected to stay the same and in this case will be the 1.4-litre K-Series petrol motor producing 94bhp/130Nm.
Maruti might launch the new Ciaz in Delhi Auto Expo 2018 before launching it in the later months.
