Maruti is working on a new Swift which is based on the same platform as the Baleno. The world debut could be sometime in 2017 and as India is one of the major markets for Swift, they would soon launch it in India. There might also be a sport variant with a peppy engine, as the hot hatch market is emerging.
As you see the car's overall look is more up-to-date and evolved. It gets a rather sporty and interesting front with low slung bonnet and sharp cut nose. The rare door handles are hidden which is being a common trend now-a-days. It also gets a Vitara Brezza like blackened rare pillar to give the impression of a floating roof. It would be nice if there is a dual contrast colour offered for the sport variants like the Brezza. The back too look sharper with a horizontal line running along the width along with the wraparound tail lamps.
On the inside, it gets an all new dash, with circular AC vents, a two pod instrument cluster and all new Suzuki's steering wheel. It also gets the touch screen information display, possibly the same one which is featured in the latest Maruti cars.
Under the hood, the new Swift could get the same engine options offered currently along with a 1.0 litre Boosterjet engine for the sports variant which develops around 110 bhp. This much necessary update and a price tag lesser than Maruti Baleno could make Swift retain its spot for a much longer time.
